Halloween Safety Guidelines
Warwood Elementary School
Students and staff are welcome to participate in Halloween festivities on Tuesday, October 31st. Please help us maintain school safety by following these guidelines:
*No weapons (such as swords, guns, etc.)
*Students should be able to put their costume on with minimal assistance from staff
*Students must be able to see clearly and walk with ease for the parade
*If families have questions about the acceptability of a costume, please check with the school prior to arrival on Halloween.
*If a student/family would prefer not to wear a costume, they're welcome to wear festive fall colors!
*We are not permitted to share food items/candy bags to students, please do not send them.
The parade will begin at 2:15pm. Families who wish to watch may line up on Richland Avenue beginning at 2:00. All students will report back to their classes after the parade. If families would like to take students home at that time, they must sign their student(s) out in the cafeteria and wait for them to be called down.
Thanks!

Good afternoon! This message contains two updates:
1) Warwood Elementary School will hold our first of four required practice lockdowns on Wednesday, October 2nd at approximately 9:30am, in accordance with state policy. Our team will discuss safety procedures with students while reassuring them of their safety. Here is a quick overview of procedures: all doors locked, lights off, silent classroom, no visitors, and remain in classroom. It will be a brief practice, and it will give us an opportunity to improve. We will update when the practice is complete. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
2) Students brought home Pepperoni Roll order forms today. This is one of the Viking Parents' main fundraisers. Orders and money are due Monday, October 14th. Please consider supporting our wonderful PTA! Thank you!

Good evening Viking families,
I'm very sorry to report that tomorrow's field trip for grades 2 through 4 has been cancelled due to an issue with registration. Students who ordered bagged lunches will still be able to enjoy them at school. Some of the storytelling fun will visit us in the next month to make up for the mix-up. Again, we're sorry for the disappointment, and we'll work to make tomorrow extra special for the students.
Thanks for all you do!

Drop-Off/Dismissal Procedures
Drop-off: between 8:15 and 8:35 am - classes begin at 8:35
All students (Car Riders, Walkers, and Bus Riders) enter the main entrance of the school (corner of Richland Avenue and Viking Drive). Richland Avenue is closed to other traffic between 8:10-8:35 am. The right lane is reserved for quick drop-off parking. Please continue south on Richland Avenue, as U-turns are dangerous with students present.
Dismissal: 3:30-3:40 pm
Car Riders will leave from the south exit on Richland Avenue. Use all 3 lanes of Richland Avenue, as it is closed to other traffic during dismissal. Please stay in your vehicle at all times. Please continue south after picking up your student.
Walkers will leave from the main entrance. Please, do not park on Richland Avenue in front of the school. U-turns are not permitted, as they are illegal and dangerous with students present.
Bus Riders will leave from the cafeteria exit when their buses are announced. Students in PK-3rd grade must have a parent/guardian meet them at the bus stop.
Note: Please keep dismissal time and method consistent to avoid confusion for students. If necessary, please contact the school before 2:30 pm. Please call the school if you have any questions. Thanks!
